Purchasing

The Purchasing Department's purpose is to procure in a transparent, fair and ethical manner in support of Pasco County's mission. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the Purchasing Department to ensure that all procurement activity is conducted in compliance with the Purchasing Ordinance (Purchasing Ordinance Revisions 18-16) and Pasco County Code Of Ordinances Municode, applicable State and Federal laws and regulations and approved policies and procedures.

(The amended Purchasing Ordinance 18-16 was approved by the Board on June 5, 2018 and ratified by the Department of State on June 12, 2018. Anything not amended remains the same in Purchasing Ordinance 15-26. Note: The amended Purchasing Ordinance now includes a Local Vendor Preference Policy in Section 2-111, effective as of June 12, 2018. Please review the Overview of the Purchasing Ordinance Revisions to find out how the new policy may affect how you do business with Pasco County. Any solicitations already published before the amended Ordinance was adopted will not be affected by this change.)

Doing Business with Pasco County

In an effort to generate more local vendor participation, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) Purchasing Department will be holding a workshop called "Doing Business with Pasco County". This is a great opportunity to learn about:

  • How to do business with Pasco County BCC
  • Registering on Florida Purchasing Group
  • The difference between a basic and select account
  • Receiving matched bid notifications & addenda
  • The importance of NIGP Codes
  • Local Vendors, Local Participation
  • Help Pasco County Purchasing Help You!

This workshop is also meant as a chance for you to provide feedback on ways we can better address the needs of local vendors.

There is a free registration option as well as an option to pay $89.95 annual fee. The difference between the two is the free option only allows you to manually check the website and search for open bids. The fee option allows you to register, set up email preferences, and then if anything comes through which pertains to the specific commodity codes, you will receive a notification. (This is a great value the company cannot commit to searching on a weekly basis for items).

Also by registering on the BidNet Direct you will have access to all the counties and agencies who use the same system so it is not limited to Pasco County only. Those added agencies are found  on the BidNet Direct website.

We require ALL vendors to register through this system to allow equal rights and opportunities.

With each bid posted there will be a contact email, and phone number of the buyer who is handling the purchase. All direct related questions should go straight to them. However, if you don’t receive a response, nor are able to find out the specific contact information, please call the Purchasing department at (727) 847-8194.
