Pasco County Fire Rescue to place new ambulance in service

HUDSON, FL ---- Pasco County Fire Rescue is adding another ambulance to its fleet of rescue units that serve the citizens of Pasco County. Rescue 39 will be ready to respond to calls in northwest Pasco County beginning Monday, August 1, 2016.

Fire Station 39, located at 11630 County Line Road in Hudson, Florida, was built in 2008. The station has always had paramedics onboard firetrucks who were able to quickly arrive on scene, assess patients and start care. However, they had to wait for an ambulance from either Hudson or Shady Hills to arrive to continue care and transport patients to the hospital.

“This new ambulance will greatly reduce response times for northwest Pasco County,” said Pasco County Fire Rescue Training Chief Shawn Whited. “Fire Rescue crews will be able to assess, treat and transport patients right away.”

Pasco County Fire Rescue ordered the new ambulance from Wheeled Coach Industries in Winter Park, Florida. It took about 7 months to build and cost $310,000.00. That price includes the vehicle and all the equipment required to operate it. The ambulance will be staffed with a Paramedic and an EMT 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
