Core Programs

Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP)

Are you 60 years of age or older? Are you at risk of having your electric disconnected?

If so, EHEAP aids eligible low-income households experiencing a home energy emergency. If you meet the income criteria and your energy bill is past due, subject to be disconnected, or already disconnected, you may qualify for help with your electric bill. EHEAP may also assist with your electric deposit to connect or reconnect services.

Indigent Cremation and Burial

Indigent Cremation and Burial is a county-funded program to assist eligible, indigent families with cremation costs. Families are screened for eligibility based on several criteria, including income. If you’re interested in this service, please call our cremation vendor, Michels and Lundquist, at (727) 845-1957 for a prescreening.

Pasco County honors our veterans who’ve been served through this program in the past 90 days on our Veterans Service page.  Please click here to see those gone but not forgotten.

The Health Care Responsibility Act (HCRA)

Have you received emergency care outside of Pasco County?

The Health Care Responsibility Act is a state-mandated program which each Florida County is responsible for assisting in the payment of emergency out-of-county care for eligible low-income residents.

Eligibility criteria includes income, assets and other case-specific items. Applications for HCRA assistance are submitted to Human Services by the HCRA participating hospital administering treatment.

Florida Statute 154.306 requires counties to pay for inpatient hospital stays in out-of-county hospitals for residents of their respective county for up to 45 days per year.

If you have received out-of-county emergency care and think you may be eligible for assistance, please contact your hospital directly to inquire about HCRA applications. We cannot accept applications directly from individual patients for this program

Round Up

The Pasco County Division of Human Services and Pasco County Utilities are collaborating. The Round-Up Water Program may assist families who are past due on their Pasco County water bill. If you are behind on your water bill, please call Pasco County Utilities at (727) 847-8131 for a referral.
