visitors. A Special Event is an event that promotes an artistic, cultural or unique experience that
is not of a competitive nature.
The application process opens once a year. If your organization is interested in applying for the
Marketing Matching Sponsorship Program funds for an event in Pasco County, please call the
Destination Management Organization (DMO) to discuss in detail prior to beginning the application
process.

ALLOWABLE EXPENSES:
Marketing expenditures to be funded with the Marketing Matching Sponsorship must be targeted to tourists outside of Pasco County based on the policy direction adopted by the TDC and BCC. Both the TDC and the BCC desired to apply the requirements of Section 125.0104(5)(a)3, Florida Statutes, which states that Tourist Development Tax shall be used “to promote and advertise tourism in this state and nationally and internationally; however, if tax revenues are expended for an activity, service, venue, or event, the activity, service, venue, or event must have as one of its main purposes the attraction of tourists as evidenced by the promotion of the activity, service, venue, or event to tourists” to areas outside of Pasco County so as to expand the marketing area of Pasco events and encourage overnight stays rather than day trips to the County. Therefore, funds from this program are limited for promotions and advertising activities targeted outside of Pasco County.
