Pasco County's 2022 Earth Day Celebration is April 23 at Crews Lake Wilderness Park (16739 Crews Lake Dr., Spring Hill) from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. This free event features educational vendors, a Florida-native plant sale, kids activities, ladybug release and a household hazardous waste collection - not to mention several wildlife presentations!
About 750 turned out for last year's Earth Day Celebration, which included 21 educational and eco-friendly vendors, such as Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife, the Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and the Energy Marine Center.
More than 70 guests took advantage of Environmental Compliance's household hazardous waste collection, dropping off:
240 lbs of batteries
15 gallons of oil
35 gallons of gas
3,260 lbs of paint
286 lbs of household hazardous waste was diverted from the Waste-to-Energy facility. And an additional 104 lbs was sent to Habitat for Humanity to be reused in the community.
This event is a partnership between the Pasco County Department of Public Works, Keep Pasco Beautiful, Covanta Pasco, Pasco County Solid Waste, Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources, and UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension.
Each year Earth Day is celebrated on the fourth Saturday in April at Crews Lake Wilderness Park in Shady Hills. For more information on this event, please contact Lottie: 727-856-2917, Ext. 201 | firstname.lastname@example.org.
