The Detention Center is the most expensive capital and operational cost that any jurisdiction will incur for a facility. Currently, the County Project includes:
+/- 1,000 bed detention facility addition,
Perimeter fencing for the entire jail campus,
Support functions for up to 3,500 beds (current need and future growth), and
The detention addition will be built on the same parcel(s) of County owned land where the current detention facility is, 20101 Central Boulevard, Land O’Lakes, Florida. Pasco County has a county-wide Master Plan (located under the Real Property & Planning page) that incorporates the existing and future buildings of this site to be the Public Safety Campus. The campus will include:
Criminal courthouse, which will incorporate allowance for future expansion for both court services and court rooms
Pasco Sheriff’s Office training and forensics,
Fire Rescue training, and a
Public Safety building.
Pasco County is working with FDOT to extend Asbel Road east to connect with Central Boulevard to allow for a signalized intersection at US41/Land O’ Lakes Boulevard to this campus. The unified overall campus design will include walk and bike paths, bus stop(s), parking areas, on-site utilities, landscaping, unified campus signage and security.
The mission will be for to provide adequate, effectively designed space to co-locate all functions for this campus with support functions that will include accommodations for the occupants needs over the next ten years.
